Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment

Duty of a dentist is to save the tooth as much as possible and give the patient the naturality of his own tooth. Root canal treatment is done to repair and save the tooth that is badly damaged and infected. During the root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. To reduce any discomfort or pain that may be present, local anesthesia is administered to the particular region. Once the cleaning is done, temporary medicament is placed. If the patient is asymptomatic, after a period of three to four days, permanent filling is given. The treatment finishes after capping the tooth which is important to maintain the strength of the tooth. The advantage of root canal treatment is that the natural tooth is saved without leaving it for removal. A lot of changes occur after a tooth is lost and when not replaced. Teeth may drift and shift and the opposing tooth may supraerupt. Root canal treatment remains the treatment of choice to save the tooth when the crown is intact.
